About

Deb at Kids in Boots

Hi there, I’m Deb and I’m a highly experienced environmental educator who has been happily developing and delivering educational sessions to thousands of school children for various environmental charities such as Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, Groundwork South and Thames21, in their education centres and in schools, since 2012. I’ve had many great experiences from putting up teepees to jumping in rivers and have delivered a huge range of topics from farming to fire lighting.

After finishing my university degree in Environmental Management in Australia, I started working in the environmental sector in Geographical Information Systems, mainly in office based roles. 7 years later, I finally decided to get out of the office, move to another country and work outdoors, where (quite accidentally through accepting a volunteer role I really wasn’t sure about!) I suddenly discovered my passion for working with children.

Now, with 14 years experience in the environmental education industry, it’s time to commit to my own business and explore the infinite creative possibilities of developing and delivering innovative educational curriculum based sessions for primary age children in their own school.

I’m extremely passionate about working with children in the outdoors and feel it is vital for children to get themselves outside, whatever the weather, and incorporate this into their set of life skills – all, of course, in their boots (and a raincoat!).

I love to make teachers’ lives easier by providing very organised, relevant, flexible and engaging sessions for children and love to see the excitement and joy on their faces (teachers as well as children).

I also love to play my guitar, sing and write my own songs and eventually aim to include a musical element into all my sessions!

I hope you’ll join me in this Kids in Boots adventure!
